Prunus cerisifera ‘Thundercloud,’ or Thundercloud purple-leaf plum, is a popular ornamental landscape tree in western Oregon and temperate climates throughout the world. It features single pink flowers that emerge early in the season followed by dark purple leaves and then red cherry-like fruit. Thundercloud grows to approximately 25′ by 20.’ This new tree will replace an existing Thundercloud near the Bush Barn Annex that was selected by Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver but is now in decline. The tree plays a prominent role in Bed 540-the north island bed.
Sponsored trees come with a plaque that includes the tree’s name, the sponsor’s name, and an opportunity to honor someone important in the sponsor’s life.
